To celebrate Associates 70 year anniversary our round 10 fixture against UWA on Saturday 16th June will be played as a Heritage game to honour the formation of the club.
Our Premier Grade team will be wearing a custom historic style kit with the jerseys 1-15 being put up for auction post-match.
Funds raised from the auction will be put towards renovation plans for the Associates Rugby Club facility, and the further strengthening of the club’s rich and proud history.
Throughout the years Associates has built a strong membership group made up of old boys, players, and supporters who together over 70 years have constructed the defining story that is Associates Rugby Club.
Associates Rugby Club was formed by a group of ex-servicemen in 1948 in affiliation with UWA Rugby Club with the initial aim for it to be an University Old Boys Club.
Through the decades Associates have had many successes in Senior and Junior rugby Divisions with the club recording seven club championship titles over their tenure first winning the award in 1965.
The game will be hosted in conjunction with the annual Old Boys Jersey Day where all old boys are welcome to come support wearing their old soaks jerseys to flood the boneyard in gold.
For many years Associates has hosted the Jersey Day, each year gaining more supporters and old boys in their old rugby gear giving support and encouragement to current players.
Along with the auction of jerseys Associates will be selling heritage branded training balls for players and supporters to honour the 70 years of great Associates Rugby.
The club doors will be staying open till late providing food and drinks. On display will be memorabilia from the past 70 years recognising this grand old club’s community history and achievements. It will be a great opportunity for fans past, present and future to come and get an insight into the journey the club has taken from 1948 until today.
The club extends a warm welcome to all current and past players and supporters of Associates and University Rugby clubs to join us in our celebrations. We thank also the University Rugby Club for all their support in preparing for this Milestone.
