Long time club member Damien Elton crowned as Head Coach for 2019

Associates Rugby Union Football Club are proud to announce that long time club member and 2018 Premier Grade Assistant Coach Damien Elton will take the reins as Head Coach for the 2019 Fortescue Premier Grade season.

Joining in 2003 Elton has been a well respected member of the club for many years, playing 246 games with 141 of those in the Soaks’ Premier Grade side.

Amassing over 1,300 points, Elton has proven his on-field versatility by playing over a number of positions. Most recently turning his attention to coaching Elton has been in the role of Assistant Coach with Associates 2018 victorious Premier Grade side working alongside experienced head coach Ryan Parkin.

President of Associates Rugby Bartholomew Hart spoke on Eltons selection expressing the importance of his player/coach role.

“We are delighted to have appointed Damien as Head coach for 2019. He has a great insight into the modern game, and has worked hard to progress through the traditional pathways from player to assistant, and on to head coach. He has served the club for many years as a premier grade and state representative player, and we are proud as a club that we can cultivate internal talent to support us into the future.”

Elton will be working with the Associates Club committee over the next couple of weeks to put together a 2019 coaching group that are committed to working hard ensuring Associates Rugby continues to be a dominant force in the Fortescue Premier Grade and throughout West Australian Rugby.

Associates welcome and congratulate Damien Elton on his new role and are committed to supporting him in his new role.
